About the Mayor

Amulung Municipal Mayor, Hon. Elpidio Reyes Rendon, affectionately known as “Joe/Pijiong” by many, was born on November 12, 1962. He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics at St. Paul University Philippines in Tuguegarao City, while also earning teaching units at Cagayan Colleges Tuguegarao, now known as the University of Cagayan Valley. Before entering politics, he dedicated over six years to teaching as a Secondary School Teacher at Our Lady of Victories Academy.

Mayor Rendon’s political journey began in his election as the SK Chairman for one term. He then served as a Sangguniang Bayan Member from 1995 to 2001, followed by a term as Municipal Vice Mayor from 2001 to 2004. Subsequently, he joined the 3rd Congressional Staff from 2004 to 2011. Notably, from 2013 to 2019, he consistently secured the top spot as a Sangguniang Bayan Member.

Currently, Mayor Rendon holds the position of Vice President of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines-Cagayan Chapter. Throughout his tenure, he has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to serving the people of Amulung and advancing the municipality’s interests within the larger context of regional governance and development.
