“In the 1970s, during World War Two, according to the story of an old man named Mr. Melecio Domingo, one Filipino and two foreigners kept walking on a narrow road to find a creek because they were thirsty. After walking for some time, they found the creek. While they were taking a rest, one of the foreigners asked the Filipino what the name of the place where they were staying was. The Filipino thought about what name to reply. He saw the two creeks intersecting, so he replied with the Ilocano word ‘NAGSABATAN,’ which means intersection. Several years passed, and some people started living here. They knew this place as ‘NAGSABARAN.’ The known name ‘Nagsabatan’ eventually became ‘Nagsabaran’.”
