“Long time ago, the people lived in the place where there are Negritos. Their main livelihood was planting wild bananas, these wild bananas have plenty of banana blossoms (SABUNGANAY in Iloko) a Spaniard passed by and asked,” What are you harvesting?’’ then the Negritos were shocked and they immediately answered “SABUNGANAYSENIOR”. Then later the Spaniards turn SABUNGANAY to ‘’DAFUNGANAY’’.
