Centro

When the Spaniards discovered the Philippines in 1521, many of them came before its discovery; some went to the North and discovered many places, one of these places being Amulung

Amulung at that time was a thick forest, the natives then were clearing the area for them to live, and some of the natives were cutting down a certain vine called an AMULUNG; when the Spaniard riding in horseback asked the natives in Spanish “Como se llama este  pueblo?”, the native were looking at each other’s because they did not understand the Spanish language when finally one of them saw the vines and old the Spaniards Am-Amulung. Since Am-Amulung was a strange name to the Spaniards, they pronounced it Amulung; the name of which the Spaniards gave this town.

It was created into a municipality by way of act through the will of the people in 1787.
