Many years before the Spaniards stood at the soil of our country the Philippines and the Malaysia Races have already rested at the different area of the Province of Cagayan, before then a thick forest.
Ilocanos were the first descendants of this Barangay Annafatan, there were a couple who had a lovely daughter named ANA, and she possesses the charming characterisics of a real lady with blurred speech.
One day, while Ana was putting a “sagpatan” a bamboo strips together where put and fix kitchen utensils. A stranger passed by and asked her name, “Como tellanasenyorita?” Ana was shocked because for the first time she ever heard this dialect. She thought that this stranger was asking if what is she doing so she answered “sagpatankabsat”.
The stranger went home and shared to his friends the charming beauty of Ana which he knew by the name “sagpatan”. The young stranger went back to the place, she asked her name, Ana replied, oh, I can remember Anapatan is your name, he combined Ana and sagpatan to form the slang word “ANAPATAN”. Many years passed by, the who couple lived here was gone, so Ana was then imprinted in their minds, that ANAPATAN was the name of this place. As years passed, ANAPATAN was changed to “ANNAFATAN”.
Barangay ANNAFATAN is the center excellence in barangay affairs and services where ANNAFATANEOUS are disciplined, peace loving, God fearing, disaster resilient, technology-oriented and self-sufficient community members.
To provide effective and efficient services to all stakeholders regardless of individual differences political affiliations cultural orientations.
