“ANQUIRAY” originated from a certain edible fruit called “Aqui-quiray” which abundantly thrived in this place.it happened that the foreigner Spaniard found this fruit and asked from the katipuneros and inhabited its name.

Anquiray was once a time spasely populated area and the original inhabitants were the late Vicente pronto and valentine Catolico. The passed and other native from amulung came over to seek for greener pasture once or two among oyher came from western boundary like barangay abolo. They sought a place which they call it their own.
