“In the early times, houses were built on top of the mountain, while others were situated on the hill sides. In these lakes, people catch many kinds of fish like ar-aro, Gurami, Bunchi, Dalag, Paltat, and igat. The villagers and other people who lived outside the area enjoyed fishing, as fish was their daily dish. On the hillsides, there were wild animals like wild pigs and deer. Sometimes, they enjoyed both fishing and hunting wild animals. They were happy because they could eat the kind of food they wanted. During their leisure time, they enjoyed singing and playing musical instruments such as the ‘Bandura,’ ‘Violin,’ and ‘Guitar,’ among others. They spent their time singing and playing musical instruments, especially at night. Because of this happiness, they called the place a ‘happy mountain’ and soon named it ‘MONTE ALEGRE,’ the home of joy and happy families.”
