Long time ago during the 18th century when Spaniards ruled the Philippines, they passed a Law that every place/Barangay must submit the name of their respective place. But people from Gabut did not submit the name of their place, since they couldn’t know the name of their place, the Spaniards get angry them. Until they decide that they will be one to discover the name of the place
One day, the Spaniards rode on their horse and roamed around Gabut until they found a group of persons gathering a certain weed used for roofing, that time until now the weed is called in Ilocano as “PAN-AW or GABUT”.
Gabut envision to become the leading yellow corn producer of Eastern Amulung with competent, responsible and disciplined community members, living in an attractive friendly & healthy environment having a progressive economy lead by a firm, honest & responsible leaders.
To organize a community that promotes a good leadership for self reliance, more productive, moral, spiritual and social activities of the barangay
