PROLOGUE
Barangay Calamagui is a barangay along the National High-way about 1 kilometer north of Amulung Poblacion Proper. Its boundary with barangay población has been fixed with Kagawad Edwardo Madrid of barangay población and at the northernmost boundary with barangay baculud is in the baculud bridge.
During the early days of barangay calamagui when the ilocanos were predominant. It was referred to us Salamague. It was so because of the Ambulnice of TAMARIND TREES e Mrs. These The plaused by anrome. They net grow plenty dish anybody or any pursby mage past help himself with the fruits without having to ask any one for permission.
Northeastern boundary of “BARANGAY CALAMAGUI” with barangay “DADDA” is the bounds and limits “SITIO CAMANGAN” southeastern boundaries with the same barangay recons with thw residence of the “QUEREZA” and rice fields of “ALFONSO CRUS” a resident of the barangay hence to NAGBEBAYAN-BAYAN-CREEK.
On the west is the Cagayan River
During the olden times, Cagayan river an parelled to the national highway at barangay calamagui, with just more than 1 kilometer distance between them. But these Cagayan river changed its course going western steadily and practically consuming the whole barangay of PALACU, threatening the barangay BAUAN and BACCUIT. Hence annexing its area as corn and tobacco fields of barangay CALAMAGUI. This natural incident forced the residents of PALACU to transfer their houses and buy lots here in barangay CALAMAGUI. This saw the beginning of influx of more residence in the bario. Notable among them as first emigrant are the CATUIRAN’s.
In constructing this short barangay history, we had interviewed some of the oldest living residents in the barrio regarding matters about its early history and we had found out the following factor.
- Why should the boundary of barangay CALAMAGUI and barangay POBLACION be fixed with the fence of the MADRID’s?
Ans: because of the other side of the fence was once the house of MR. and MRS JARAMILL KOGA first settle of CALAMAGUI
2. Why should Barangay CALAMAGUI be of rightful jurisdiction to SITO CAMANGAN?
Ans: because the sitio lies on the southern part of the creek which is the natural boundary of the second because its first settlers tenant of the DONATOS lives in the eastern hill of barrio CALAMAGUI overlooking the barrio proper as is eithin tambulis call to assembly at the house of the CABEZAS DE BARANGAY.

3. Why should the QUEREZAS residence and the rice fields of ALFONSO CRUZ extending the northern bank of NABEBAYAN CREEK be reckoned as jurisdiction of BARIO CALAMAGUI?
Ans: Because those rice fields were once owned BERNABE DELOS SANTOS a son of MAXIMO DELO SANTOS first settlers of the barrio.
Among other facts establish by this interview is that the juridicial boundary of this barrio with barangay BACULUD is the Creek following its course east and west up to the junction with CAGAYAN RIVER- an age hold settled boundary.
With the influx of more ITAWES speaking people in the barrio SALAMAGUE was now more often referred to as CALAMAGUI. Itawes speaking populace became majority and slowly, SALAMAGUE as a named died, however, Ilocanos just smile at his SALAMAGUE is CALAMAGUI, in itawes, and they are reconciled. From more 16 households in the increase, it and grow to more then 400 houses…households, now commanding more than 800 voters with 4 precincts in the last barangay election. This fact should be noted that there was only one Ilocano Bario Head of barangay CALAMAGUI in its history-and that was its first TINIENTE DEL BARIO-VICENTE DELA CRUZ and after him all barangay heads were Itawes speaking natives.
We envision the barangay Calamagui to be peaceful, hearty and progressive through the sincere efforts of the barangay officials with the unity of the people.
We want to have better community and better education for the youth to uplift economic progress and unite our people through effective governance, coupled with sincere service.
