Barangay
Bayabat

Once upon a time a young Spanish missionary was on his way to this place, not far from where he stood a fruit tree, he asked in spanish Hey, Indio! Que pueblos es este? (Hey Indio! What place is this?) When the native saw the reaction of the missionary, he panicked and groped for word and said ‘’BAYABO’’ meaning guava tree. Since BAYABO is an itawes word, the residents in this place are purely Ilokano, they preferred to call it BAYABAT, the Ilokano term for guava.
