Dr. Edward M. Antonio also known as “ED” and popularly known as “Doktor ng Bayan” was born in Barangay Dugayung, Amulung, Cagayan on December 12, 1949. His parents were Mrs. Luz and Mr. Fermin. They raised him as a normal child with a great childhood experience.

Dr. Antonio successfully completed his education in a unique attainment. He finished primary school at Amulung Central School accumulated the Grade 1-5 at Baculud Elementary School. With the eagerness within him at young age and despite of far location to his residence, he finished his secondary school at Cagayan Teachers College located at Tuguegarao City. Encapsulated the personal dreams and aspirations within him, Dr. Antonio chose Bachelor in Preparatory Medicine at Far Eastern University as a course that definitely helped him to obtain a degree in Medicine. He took Proper Medicine at Doctor Nicanor Reyes Foundation-Far Eastern University that equipped and imparted him the knowledge and competence as medical graduate seeking licensure to practice medicine. With the glory and honor of Almighty God, the desire of his heart to become a licensed physician was granted.

“Serve with Love and Compassion” and “Abante Amulung” are the official short expression of a guiding principle of the present VICE MAYOR of the Municipality of Amulung, Cagayan. This simple motto of Dr. Antonio was and is still used during his governance. It showcases the overall services he rendered and will be rendering to Amulungeños.

Dr. Antonio was elected Sangguniang Bayan Member in about four terms. Year 2004 to 2007 was his first term, second term was 2010 to 2013, third term was 2016 to 2019, and his fourth term was 2019 to 2022. After how many tries in becoming Vice Mayor during the past elections in the municipality, Dr. Antonio was finally elected as Vice Mayor of Amulung last 2022 Elections, and presently serving as the untiring Head of the Legislative Department.

To sum up, Dr. Antonio is one-of-a-kind that actively demonstrates the qualities of a leader: courage, strength, the ability to communicate effectively, knowledge, good judgement, integrity, and interpersonal skills.
